YOUNG PEOPLE, WE CARE! -THE GOLDEN HEART OF GLORIA

Since 2018, Gloria Gatsinzi a young adult has been in a mission to helping vulnerable children both at streets and the in neighborhood in Rwanda, by giving them stationeries and materials to support their studies. It is amazing to see the passion of Gloria for kids as by then, she was still a student and therefore could use her pocket money to support the street kids.

We met Gloria in 2018, while helping the street children. This is after she had got a job and started Gloria Foundation (Care and Heart foundation) with the aim to give back to the society by focusing with the needy and their future.

“I’m very passionate about helping kids because they are like seeds. The more we invest in them, the more we are assured of our leaders and heroes of tomorrow. These children from vulnerable families are depending on us to break the cycle of poverty through a decent education, and it makes me smile to see them go back to school. I listen to these children’s stories and some go for days without a decent meal while others go to school on an empty stomach. We cannot expect them to concentrate in class if they are studying on an empty stomach,” with Gatsinzi explained.

Gloria elaborated that although Rwanda is lucky to have a flexible education system to help all children attain an education, some parents are too poor that they cannot afford even the little money required of them to contribute. She says that until she decided to take a step and understand what the vulnerable children were going through, she would not have known the problems they are passing through. “Helping doesn’t have limits. All it requires is a big heart and what might seem a luxury to you could be a necessity for someone else.” She stated.

Branding of Care and Help Foundation.

After having conversations with Gloria Gatsinzi Founder and CEO of Care and help, child organization, on a mission to reduce street kids and help the needy by giving them a second chance to be happy and build their future.

We created the logo combining color yellow [to represent freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, joy and brightness of the sun] and blue [which represents freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, sensitivity and expansiveness like the sky and sea]

And arranging made the clip art of kids to be in blue meaning the are expansive and their imagination through inspiration are reaching out to the sun, which is bright yellow to showcase joy, energy, optimism and happiness towards the future. And the name care and help had to be below so as to represent support and foundation for the needy kids.

We are glad as an organization to be part of Care and Help child organization, It has taught Meskith Creations the beauty and power of empowering the community. At end of 2018 Meskith Creations was able to donate thirty six branded T-shirts that went to the course of helping the needy children and Care and help foundation team.

When Care and Help organization started, it was taking care of around thirty children, which by now, has doubled to seventy seven kids, of whom are getting better as the days goes by with access of opportunities which they could not access before. In March 2020, Care and help partnered with MTN Rwanda to give the children scholastic materials, while eleven were given tuition to take them through school as highlighted in The New Times

As a result Gloria has a dream to help lift these children’s parents out of poverty so they can sustain families and take better care of their children.

“One way is through a cooperative, where these parents buy food and utilities for sale, and the profits go to growing their business and empowering them economically. There is so much you can do with the very little that you have. I started with just Rwf20, 000 but it turned out to create a huge impact. Do not sit comfortably and think only of yourself when there is a lot that needs to be done in our communities.” Gatsinzi says.

The above is just one of more projects that Meskith has done. It is satisfying to see the steps & strides made by Care and Help Group to fulfilling the SDG 1 [End poverty in all its forms everywhere ] SDG 2 [End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture] SDG 4 [Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all]. and ensure that by 2030 people enjoy peace and prosperity. As we always say “Life is a journey you just need to get started.”
